There are moments in building a business that feel less like a launch and more like finally arriving somewhere you've been walking toward all along. This is one of those moments.
When I started Huey at twenty-seven, it was just me. I designed every light, packed every order, answered every email, and slowly learned what kind of studio I wanted to build and life I wanted to lead. Six years later, much of that is still true. I still design every single piece. I still lead every creative decision, from the photography and writing to the tiniest details that most people will never notice.
Because of that, Huey has never really been a brand I created. It's become an extension of how I see the world. Over the years, that vision has become clearer.
I've found myself drawn less to trends and more to permanence. To objects that feel collected rather than manufactured. To homes that tell stories. To materials that grow more beautiful with age. To slower ways of making, and slower ways of living.

A few years ago, that way of thinking led me to leave Toronto and move back to the small town where I grew up, along the shores of Southern Georgian Bay. My studio is now a ten-minute drive from home, with little more than the occasional tractor slowing my commute. It's a quieter pace of life, and I don't think it's a coincidence that Huey began to feel more like itself after I came back.
It's why we only introduce one collection each year. We aren't interested in creating more for the sake of it. Every new piece has to earn its place, often taking months (or sometimes years) to refine before it ever reaches your home.
Our new home finally reflects all of that.
Some Worlds Are Built a Little Differently
Time moves more slowly there. Objects are kept instead of replaced. Lamps are passed from one home to the next, gathering stories instead of collecting dust. Beauty is measured by the hands that made it, not the speed at which it arrived.
We've been finding our way toward this place for a long time. Today, it finally has a name, a face, and a home that feels unmistakably like us. A little more whimsical. A little more folkloric. A little closer to the world I imagine every time I begin sketching a new piece.
Every illustration, every winding vine, every line of copy, and every interaction throughout the site was considered with the same care we give our lighting. Not because anyone asked us to, but because that's always been the point. We believe the experience surrounding an object should feel just as thoughtful as the object itself.
This Isn't A Departure from the Huey You've Known
It's the clearest expression of it yet, and in many ways, it feels like the beginning.
Over the coming months, we'll be sharing new collections, collaborations, stories from the studio, and ideas we've been quietly working on for a long time. This new world gives those stories somewhere to belong.
Thank you for being here—for supporting a small independent studio, for believing in slower craftsmanship, and for allowing this little idea I started years ago to become something far bigger than I ever imagined.
Welcome to the next chapter of Huey.
We're so glad you're here.
